A Proud Moment for ZSFG This Pride Month

A Note from our CEO, Dr. Susan Ehrlich

This Pride Month, I have great news to share about the work we are doing at ZSFG to support our LGBTQIA+ community. This year, our hospital earned 100 out of 100 points on the Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). This is the highest score possible, and it means we are named an LGBTQIA+ Healthcare Equality Leader.

We are not alone, but we are part of a select group. Across the country, 384 hospitals earned this top score out of more than 1,000 hospitals that took part. This shows how special this achievement is and how hard all of you have worked to get us here.

Why does this matter? The HEI rating looks at how hospitals treat LGBTQIA+ patients, visitors, and staff. It checks to make sure we have strong rules that protect people from discrimination. It also looks at our training, our care practices, and the support we offer.

Zsfg Pride PhotoA top score means:

  • We treat every person with respect, no matter who they are.
  • We work hard to make sure people feel safe and welcome.
  • We listen to our community and try to meet their needs.
  • We support our LGBTQIA+ staff and help everyone feel like they belong here.

This rating is not just about policies. It’s about people. It’s about you. Every day, you show kindness, patience, and care. You help our patients feel understood and supported. You help your coworkers feel safe being who they are. You make our hospital a place where everyone can get the care they need without fear.

This accomplishment belongs to all of us, and you should feel proud! Thank you for everything you do—your hard work, your heart, and your commitment to treating everyone with dignity.

I am grateful for you, and I look forward to continuing this important work together.

Happy Pride, everyone!

Susan
