If you’re new to Zuckerberg San Francisco General, start here. We’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
We give top medical care in a caring place. We serve all San Franciscans, no matter their ability to pay.
You can learn how to get here, find your way around, and get the help and support you need.
We provide world-class care for the people of San Francisco, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status.
We offer a broad range of sexual and reproductive health clinical services. Our team, the largest specialty clinic in the Department of Public Health, includes a wide range of healthcare experts. You can get the care you need at every stage of your reproductive journey—all in one place. And because our clinic is located at the hospital, you have convenient access to other healthcare services.
We offer comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for women and birthing people. This includes both pregnancy care and a full range of gynecology services.
Many of our patients are referred to us by community clinics across San Francisco for specialized gynecology care, but you don’t need a referral to see us. We also welcome patients who come to us directly for routine visits, like Pap smears, STI testing, and annual gynecology check-ups.
If you’re pregnant, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Most patients start prenatal care between 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. At your first visit, a nurse will review your medical history and help create a personalized care plan.
We serve our whole community by providing full-time translator services in 23 different languages and gender inclusive care. You will be treated with dignity and respect.
We have a diverse, multidisciplinary team that includes fully licensed physicians, midwives, nurse practitioners, social workers, behavioral health workers, and more.
We are experts in routine care, such as pap smears and birth control.
You can choose to receive care from a doctor, certified nurse-midwife, or nurse practitioner. You can decide whether you prefer individual appointments or group care through our Centering Pregnancy program.
We also provide a range of support services for pregnant patients, including:
Abnormal Pap Smears & Cervical Health: We evaluate and treat abnormal Pap test results, including follow-up procedures like colposcopy.
Bladder & Pelvic Floor Health (Urogynecology): Care for urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and other urinary or bladder issues.
Breast Health: Expert care for non-cancerous (benign) breast concerns.
Gynecology Consultations: Evaluations for issues like heavy bleeding, fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal Pap smears, endometriosis, menopause, pelvic pain, and more, often referred by your primary care provider.
Fertility & Hormone Support: Help with infertility and other hormonal concerns through our Reproductive Endocrinology specialists.
Gynecologic Surgery: We perform a wide range of surgeries, including minimally invasive and advanced procedures.
Pre- and Post-Surgery Care: We guide you before and after surgery to ensure your recovery is safe and smooth.
Cancer Care (Gynecologic Oncology): Specialized treatment for cancers of the cervix, uterus, ovaries, and other reproductive organs.
Gender-Inclusive Care: Welcoming, respectful care for people of all gender identities and expressions.
Birth Control & Family Planning: We offer a full range of contraception options and help you choose what works best for your goals.
Our physicians are board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
When a pregnant patient has medical problems or complicated pregnancies, they are referred to one of our obstetricians (perinatologists) with specialized training in high-risk obstetrics.
Nurse-midwives provide holistic prenatal care for low-risk pregnancies.. We arrange for the patient to be cared for by the same nurse-midwife throughout their pregnancy. This helps ensure a safe delivery of their baby at the hospital. We are proud to provide full-time, hospital-based nurse midwifery service in San Francisco.
NPs and PAs are licensed clinicians with advanced training in care during pregnancy and after childbirth. The same NP or PA will see you throughout your pregnancy and can continue to see you for gynecology and family planning care after you deliver your baby.
We provide prenatal care in groups staffed by nurse-midwives. This model of care gives the patient an opportunity to meet other people at the same stage in pregnancy, spend more time discussing health education topics, and share about the highs and lows of pregnancy and parenting in a nonjudgmental space. We offer groups for Spanish-speaking and Black-identified patients.
Team Lily is a multidisciplinary care team providing person-centered, trauma-informed, wrap-around services to pregnant and postpartum people. We support pregnant people experiencing significant barriers to accessing clinic-based prenatal care, including those experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, incarceration, intimate partner violence, and/or mental illness.
HIVE Clinic provides multidisciplinary preconception, prenatal, gynecologic, and sexual health care to people living with and affected by HIV. This includes serodifferent couples (when one partner is living with HIV and the other is not).
