Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Outpatient Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic provides care for adults and pediatric patients which include the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region (mouth and jaw). Our services such as teeth extractions are performed utilizing local anesthesia and IV Sedation.

Patient services provided

  • Simple tooth extractions
  • Wisdom teeth extractions
  • Treatment of facial fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • Intravenous procedural sedation

What documents are required for initial consult appointment

  • Identification card / Driver’s license
  • Insurance card
  • Referral from general dentist (outside or in network) or Medical Provider
  • Authorization (if needed)

What to expect during a visit

During new patient visit, patients will receive a detailed oral health examination during their first visit to the Oral Surgery Clinic. Any recommended surgical procedures will follow the new patient consultation and will be scheduled for a later date.

Without a referral and for urgent oral surgery issues/concerns, patients can drop-in during our triage/drop in times. During triage drop in times, new patient consultation appointments and or treatment appointments maybe scheduled for a later date. Some insurance plan requires preauthorization to cover treatment and that may take additional time to process.

All minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian for new patient consult and any surgical/invasive procedure appointments.

Patient Financial Responsibility

You will receive two invoices.

For doctor’s time, UCSF will bill you for:

  • Exams and Consults
  • Physician Surgery
  • Extractions
  • Anesthesiologist (General Anesthesia, Procedural Sedation)
  • Radiologist (Reading of X-ray)

For space and equipment, ZSFG will bill you for:

  • Basic Exam
  • Minor Surgery (Local)
  • Surgery (IV/General Anesthesia)
  • Surgical Repair
  • Medications (Penicillin or Hydrocortisone)
  • Radiology Exam
