The Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery team provides care for conditions related to the head and neck – specifically the ear, nose and throat. We partner with Audiology in the same clinic space to manage hearing loss.

You will need a referral to access Otolaryngology & Audiology (ENT) services. Please contact your primary care provider for a referral.

The ZSFG ENT Team

Our team is composed of outstanding UCSF physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, audiologists, nurses, medical assistants, and administrators. UCSF Residents are an integral part of our service as they complete a 10 week rotation at ZSFG. During their time they conduct clinic visits, provide consultations for emergency room patients and patients staying in the hospital, and they carry out emergency and elective surgeries at the hospital.

Facial Trauma Program Overview

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is a designated Level 1 trauma center, which signifies the highest level of trauma care available. This designation means ZSFG is equipped to manage the most severe and complex injuries, offering:

  • Comprehensive trauma services 24/7, including immediate surgical intervention and intensive care
  • Multidisciplinary expertise, integrating emergency medicine, surgery, radiology, and rehabilitation
  • Active research initiatives aimed at improving trauma outcomes, developing innovative treatment protocols, and advancing trauma-related technologies

Role of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS)

The OHNS department plays a critical role in the management of facial trauma at ZSFG. Their scope of care includes the treatment of all facial injuries, whether caused by:

  • Lacerations (cuts or tears in the skin)
  • Penetrating trauma (e.g., stab wounds, gunshot injuries)
  • Blunt force trauma (e.g., motor vehicle accidents, falls)
  • Fractures of the facial skeleton (including nasal, orbital, mandibular, and maxillary fractures)
  • Comprehensive and compassionate care for every patient, regardless of the age of the injury or the patient’s background. This reflects a commitment to equity and excellence in trauma care
