Now Open: ICU Family Room

Congratulations to the ICU Team

Staff gathered September in 2024 for the much-awaited grand (re)opening of the ICU Family Room. “This is such an important space for families to have while their loved ones are in the ICU. Whether it’s to grieve, wind down, or just be, families now have this private space. It’s so great to see it open again. This space was very much needed,” shares Kelly, an ICU Nurse Educator.

After two years of closure due to COVID and an additional two years of repairs and refurbishment, we are again able to offer this space to the loved ones of our community members when they are admitted to critical care. The success of this initiative required collaboration across many departments and truly demonstrated what we can achieve together for our patient population. Dana Pullman, the Clinical Operations Coordinator for critical care, shepherded this project to ensure its success with the unwavering support of Gillian Otway, Chief Nursing Officer, and Christina Bloom, Nursing Director of Critical Care.

As the ribbon was cut, hands clapped, tears were wiped, and our ICU nurses “ooh’d” and “ahh’d” as they entered the room, now equipped to support families during these vulnerable times. The Critical Care Department is more than happy to welcome ICU families to this heartwarming space.

Dana shares her deep appreciation to the ICU leadership team and staff for their advocacy and patience throughout this process. A special thank you to Rich Elliot, AJ Singh, and their entire facilities team for their constant support, and to Eric Wu, Chief Financial Officer, and his team for their crucial hand in making this happen.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all of Critical Care for their resilience and the exceptional care they provide to our patients and their families.
